1. ACCEPTANCE

These terms are an agreement between you and MAKI. By creating an account or using MAKI on the web, in the MAKI app or in the MAKI OS desktop app, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use MAKI.

2. THE SERVICE

MAKI is an AI platform: chat with AI characters and assistants, creative tools (images, video, comics, 3D), a comics and story universe, community features, and tools that work with software on your own computers. Some features are provided by third-party AI providers, as described in the Privacy Policy. Features may change, and some may be available only on some platforms or plans.

3. YOUR ACCOUNT

You must be 13 or older to use MAKI. Keep your login details secure and give accurate information when you sign up. One account per person; duplicate or fake accounts may be removed. You are responsible for activity on your account.

4. YOUR CONTENT

You keep ownership of what you create and upload: chats, notes, files, comics, art, articles, comments and profile details. You give MAKI a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, display and distribute your content only to run and improve the service for you and, for content you choose to publish, to show it to other members. You can delete your content, and deleting your account removes it as described in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for what you post. Only upload content you have the right to share.

5. COMMUNITY STANDARDS: ZERO TOLERANCE

MAKI has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You must not post, send or generate content that:

• harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates anyone, or encourages others to do so;
• is hateful or discriminatory on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any similar characteristic;
• is sexually explicit, or sexualises anyone under 18 in any way;
• promotes violence, terrorism, self-harm or suicide;
• is illegal, defamatory, fraudulent, or infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy;
• is spam, a scam or malware, or impersonates another person or MAKI.

Report and block. You can report any comment, profile or AI reply in the app (the ⋯ menu or the Report link), and block any member so you no longer see their content. We review reports within 24 hours. We remove content that breaks these standards and suspend or permanently remove the accounts responsible, and we may report illegal content to the authorities.

6. AI-GENERATED CONTENT

MAKI's characters and assistants are AI. Their replies are generated automatically and can be inaccurate, incomplete or offensive. They are not professional advice (medical, legal, financial or otherwise) and you should not rely on them as such. Story characters are fictional; if you sincerely ask whether you are talking to an AI, MAKI will say yes.

You are responsible for how you use what MAKI generates. Do not use it to deceive people, to break the law, or to break these terms. If a reply is harmful, report it with the Report link.

7. CREDITS

Credits (CR) are a virtual unit used for features inside MAKI. Credits have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and are non-transferable except where a MAKI feature says otherwise. Credits do not expire.

You may earn credits through MAKI activities, or buy them on makiai.app or, where offered, through in-app purchase. Purchases are final except where the law or the store you bought from requires a refund; in-app purchases are handled under that store's refund terms. We may change how many credits a feature costs or how credits are earned, and we will not remove credits you bought except as these terms allow (for example, a refunded purchase or an account removed for breaking these terms).

8. OPTIONAL NODE

Running a MAKI node is optional. If you run one, it uses your device's processor and graphics resources while it runs. You must have the right to run software on that device, and you must not falsify node activity or credits.

9. PROHIBITED CONDUCT

• Reverse-engineering, hacking, overloading or disrupting MAKI or other members' use of it;
• Getting around limits, safety features, payments or the reading and access rules;
• Creating fake accounts, selling accounts or sharing your login;
• Scraping or harvesting other members' data;
• Using MAKI in breach of the community standards in section 5.

10. ENDING YOUR ACCOUNT

You can delete your account yourself at any time: in the app, Settings → Delete account; on the web, makiai.app/delete-account.html. Deletion is described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms.

11. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

MAKI works with third-party services (AI model providers, payment processors, app stores). Their own terms apply to them, and we are not responsible for services we do not control.

12. APP STORE

If you downloaded MAKI from Apple's App Store:

• These terms are between you and MAKI only, not Apple. MAKI, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content.
• Your licence to use the app is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
• If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app (if any); to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Any other claims, losses or costs from a warranty failure are MAKI's responsibility.
• MAKI, not Apple, is responsible for any claims relating to the app or your use of it, including product liability, failure to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
• If anyone claims the app infringes their intellectual property, MAKI, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and resolving that claim.
• You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated as a "terrorist-supporting" country, and that you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when using the app.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

13. DISCLAIMERS AND LIABILITY

MAKI is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no guarantees about uptime, the accuracy of AI output, or the continuity of any feature or credit programme, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law of your country that cannot be limited.

14. CHANGES

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will update the date above and tell you in the app. Continuing to use MAKI after a change means you accept it.
